Let's move right into chapter 4 and all its excitement. You're becoming
knowledgeable. That is what makes an expert.Knowledge! And with that
knowledge you will begin having the Self Confidence to start going out
away from home and into Gods vast world of mountains and valleys.

Here's an idea you might want to chew on and give it some thought. There
is a great need for Guides . Not just any quide though

Use your knowledge to help others and make yourself some good money
at the same time.If you enjoy and love the outdoors,Camping,Hiking,,as
well as fishing, hunting, etc. There is a market for Professional Guides.
People are looking for someone like you right now.

Learn the ropes and get good with your knowledge and put it in practice.
Before actually advertising your expertise as a guide, here's suggestion. Take
some of your relatives,or family,or friends and practice on them.Have them
tell you where they like to go and what they like to do. And guess what....

This will give you excellent training.Because family and friends can and will
many times be very critical in a constructive way. This is good.It will help hone
your ability to learn how to be the best guide for any given situation..It will also
give you the experience that you need to advertise that you're experienced.

Do this between 6 months and a year .At the end of that time you'll be simply
amazed at how much you've learned from guiding others around. And you'll
start getting a reputation for being a pro at what you do.It will then be a simple
task of putting ads in papers, magazines, radio, even tv. Word will get around.

I recommend that you specialize in a special area. For example,FISHING.
That is a very popular sport. But there's all kinds of different fisherman. Some
want to know how to fly fish better, and the best places for them to go.Others
want to fish for special kinds, especially deep sea fishing. While some ...

Just enjoy cutting a willow pole, tying a line to it,and taking a nap waiting.
Your "hard job" is to help them find that place.

Now,you that are learning to become Expert Campers, you'll meet all kinds.
Some will want you as a guide to do everything for them. While others
will try to do everything themselves.Learn "Public Relations" and learn it
well. There is an art to leading people in what you want them to do.

Camping-Expert-**more-than-a-Camper**

That's right! You're more than a camper.You're a...
"Jack of all Trades." People will look at you as knowing how to do just
about everything.Especially children. They'll look at you as an HERO,
so don't let them down.

Say,you're out on the trail in the Great Smoky Mountains. You of a
sudden come upon a big bear feeding or on a forage for food. What
will you do? Turn and run, making as much noise as you can? Sit
down and take pictures?Talk to them and brag on their beauty?

What would you do? HERE'S WHAT YOU SHOULD DO!
Very slowly, but efficiently, start backing up and try to put distance
between you and the bear.Usually this works very well. But bears
are curious.Sometimes, they'll follow you,to check you out.

The National Park Rangers which are Experts, say this.First off,
never have food that's open anywhere around you.Bears have poor
eyesight, but their hearing and keen sense of smell make up for it.

Never have a dog.The dog may appear very brave, but then lose
his courage and send the angry bear right onto to you, while he tucks
tail and runs. Don't climb a tree.Black bears claws are more for
digging, but brown bear are great climbers.Black bears can climb

If by chance you have something like several pans, bang them
together and make as much noise as you can. This has been known
to drive bears away.If all else fails, lay flat on the ground, face down,
and cover neck with hands.Bear may sniff you and leave.

Regardless, you're at the mercy of the bear.Although Brown Bear
is more aggressive than Black Bear, when out in their territory, a
good idea is to make noise.Sing, whistle, shout, talk.Let the bear
know you're coming so hopefully he'll retreat.
