Backpacking For Beginners
This is stated as backpacking for beginners, also for anyone needing more information. Your essentials in winter is wear the right kind of clothes to keep from getting frostbite.
Wear layers and those that have zippers so that if you start to sweat you can even unzip a layer and this may be sufficient to cool you down.
If this doesn’t do the job, just remove a layer. It’s important you do not sweat and produce lots of moisture in severe cold weather. You never want to wear cotton socks while out backpacking in cold weather.
Probably nothing can be more frightening than to think you’re one place and discover that you’re somewhere else hopelessly lost.
There was a lady out all alone many years ago backpacking in a part of the country she’d never been and surrounded by many thousands of acreas of forest back country wilderness. She suddenly realized she was lost.
For one month she wandered trying to find a path she remembered. She ran out of food and not knowing how to live off the land, when found she’d eaten boots and other parts of her clothing she could.
The saddest part was that she was completely out of her mind. The fear of being lost over whelmed her. With time and care from a older couple she regained her mind.
Backpacking for beginners brings us to another absolute. Have plenty of food or better still, learn how to live off the land so that you wouldn’t starve like the young lady we mentioned above.
