Sevierville TN, unlike its main neighbors, remains a very normal small town with a movie theater, factories, an airport, new car dealerships, a hospital, and a small town main street.
Of late, tourism is creeping in just like it did in Pigeon Forge but somehow Sevierville remains its own entity and would likely do just fine for many years to come with or without tourists.
Nowadays it is the home of more than 12,000 year-round residents.
There are many churches, schools and banks for the locals to take advantage of and even Wal-mart has found a home there.
Sevierville is growing by leaps and bounds with 2010 population estimates as high as 17,000. Hotels and motels are seemingly popping up overnight to help take on the growth. Restaurants as well are beginning to have a more touristic flavor and the no-liquor laws are starting to change as well.
One can find many outlet centers and shops where you can find needed items as well as souvenirs and other Smoky Mountain trinkets.
Many music theaters and other attractions are available to accommodate the fun-loving visitors who wonder into the piece of the smoky mountain.
Sevierville is the county seat and is the place locals have to go to attend court and get their license plates renewed.
Even with all of the changes that seem to be taking place in Sevierville TN, it somehow seems to maintain its originality and is complimented by the tourism rather than defined by it.
