Some Dolly Parton history around her home town of popular Pigeon Forge Tennessee.

Here’s some history about her perhaps you didn’t know:

Dolly Parton was born in 1946, the 19th day of January. She grew up in hometown of Locust Ridge Tn. A lovely part of the Great Smoky Mountains.

She went to Sevier County High School, full name being Dolly Rebecca Parton. Her dad, Robert Lee and Mother Avie Lee Parton had her as their 4th child. Almost as soon as graduation was over she moved to Nashville Tn

Dolly was no stranger to writing songs and singing.

At the young age of 9, she was on a local radio station WSEV in Sevierville,Tn. Just one year later, she started appearing regularly live, on Knoxville,Tn.Television Broadcast.

It was on the Cas Walker Show. She was barely 10 years old.

Porter Wagoner, who was a very popular performer in his own rights, owning his own show, The Porter Wagoner Show.

He contacted Dolly now 21, signed her on to his show. She was with him 7 years, known all over the country, now famous on her own merit. In truth, she was known all over the world

From here to the Grand Ole Opry, movies, singing awards. There’s a lot more to her history. You can read that from her book  ”My Life and Other Unfinished Business.” Also ” Coat Of Many Colors.”

In 1986, she became part owner of  “Silver Dollar City“  and the theme park was started with her name and called Dollywood ever since.

Her theme park is in the Top 50 in the whole World,and covers well over 100 acres. Draws over 2 million visitors each year to Pigeon Forge Tn.

Dollywood Pigeon Forge Tennessee Vacation

Dollywood,  Pigeon Forge Tennessee. Dolly’s mountain home and is one of the most visited places in the USA with the Great Smoky Mountains. Pigeon Forge, a very popular vacation spot and ideal family getaway or retreat.

Along the lovely Parkway there’s 40 plus attractions to give the whole family the best vacation they ever had. The kids love it.

One thing in Pigeon Forge is the new 50’s style with over a dozen  Antique Cars along with Jukebox Junction,  a $6 million dollar project, stores that have the past era feel and lots more.

Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum
