Railroad Train Of The Great Smoky Mountains

When talking about the railroad train of the great Smoky Mountains, Bryson City North Carolina is the best place to start. Actually the trip does start here. What a lovely place to began.

Imagine, if you can, going back into years gone by.

Gorges, fertile valleys and mountains with lots of trees make up the Smokies in Western North Carolina. Within this protected area, the scenery is almost untouched. Plants and flowers add to the beautiful array of many thousands of acreas.

Bear, deer, and elk make up only a few of the vast animal kingdom protected against the destruction of men. Now picture you and your family spending days or weeks here, camping, hiking, and riding aboard the train, drinking in all this beauty.

Here’s a link to your directions and maps.

With a presidental suite to stay in and delicious  mountain food right next the depot. Here is a link to the rates and schedules .

You can have not only a unforgettable train ride on the railroad train of the great smoky mountains  ( Nantahala Gorge Excursion  )  but can even take a thrilling ride on a raft in the whitewaters  ( Nantahala River )  as the river speeds you along. This is a wonderful trip for the whole family to enjoy.

Smoky Tremont Institute - Family Adventures

At Smoky Tremont Institute learn some very interesting and knowledge building lessons that you can take home with you and apply in your personal woods or land right where you live.

Dad - Mom by bringing your children to the Smokies you’ll be doing them and yourself a great service. How?

By simply letting you as a family learn valuable ways to preserve beautiful resources here. You can use these lessons to make your community where you live more healthy within the natural preservation of trees and animals.

Much of natures beauty and natural resources are being destroyed by logging practices. Many of the tree cutters never consider the value of replanting for generations who will follow them. The trees need to be thinned. Dead stuff removed but only by responsible people.

Tremont Institute in the Smokies is a great place for the whole family to learn about their environment through workshops and programs. Taking you on hikes, teaches history past and present along with wildlife watching and training. You’ll learn about wild flowers and trees and lots more.

Dad your children will be proud letting them become a Junior Ranger. If they’re age 5-12 bring them to Cades Cove or any park visitor center for a $3.00 booklet which has activities for them to complete. Then come back to visitor center and talk to a ranger. They’ll receive their Junior Ranger Badge.
