Dollywood - Family Fun - Adventure - Part Two

Dollywood with its famous Dolly Parton herself, wanting to give the kids and adults more than their money’s worth. To keep giving great service and fresh up to date entertainment and thrills that give the crowds a reason to come.

What else makes this park so popular?  How about Zorb inflatable plastic spheres large enough for adults to ride in as they roll down a hill.

WonderWorks which mixes entertainment and science, an amusement park for the mind.

The Miracle, telling the life of Jesus. 1700 seat theater / multi-media production / Helicoper Headquarters / a development history of Helicoper flights.

Walden’s Landing expanding to make way for retail space as well as new restaurants, a 15 million dollar development.

This is just a small amount of things to do around Pigeon Forge. Dollywood will give the whole family along with the Smoky Mountains National Park the vacation you’ve always dreamed about. (Bring camera, camcorder video.)

Dollywood - Family Fun - Adventure

The park at dollywood is so populated with constant visitors literally getting bigger. So much family oriented adventure and fun from little kids to senior citizens.

Take time to get away from all the rush. Start planning so you can get into the Smokies when the weather is just right for all you want to do.

Here’s some dolly wood suggestions:

Pigeon Forge,  place of the new dollywood project has just paid out nearly $18 million (that’s million) dollars on a “roller coaster” named Mystery Mine. And another $ 2 million plus to expand none other than Dollywoods Splash Country. This is where Thunderhead was created back in 2004, a wooden - coaster, very popular.  This largest in history of the park investment means proven excitement and fun for you.

How About the Dollywood Cascades? Beach style entrance which is a leisure pool, about 7500 square feet. Waterfall in its centerpiece that tumbles down from a large rock, which actually was created back in 2001. ( More Coming next post )

Clingmans Dome In The Smoky Mountains

Clingmans Dome-  How would you like to see for 100 miles?

On days that are clear, you can see that far from here - but sometimes you’ll find it hard to see even 20 miles because of pollution in the air.  The clear days though, make up for the loss of distant seeing.
Only 23 miles from Gatlinburg, and from Cherokee, just 25 miles - making it less than 30 minutes to get there if you’re in a hurry.

Clingmans Dome being the highest, (6,643 feet), area point in Smoky Mountain National Park, and in Tennessee being the highest point, as well as being the third highest mountain east of Mississippi.
Only two others are higher - one being 6,684, (Mt. Mitchell), and the other being 6,647, which is Mt. Craig, the two being located in Mt. Mitchell State Park in Western North Carolina.

If you don’t mind climbing up the half mile walk to the top at the tower, there is a 360 degree view on the summit of Clingmans Dome on the observation tower.  You can’t imagine the thrill until you see for yourself the view!

There are pullouts with awesome scenery for 7 miles, stopping at a big parking area, and a .5 of a mile paved, steep trail to summit. There’s a trail, (Appalachian), crossing Clingmans Dome, which is the highest point along its journey out of Georgia to Maine.  (Read more about Smoky Mountains Hiking here…..)
Finally, Forney Ridge Trail, which leads toAndrew Bald - a grassy and high elevation bald.

One last note- Clingmans Dome is open all year, however the road that leads you to it is closed during bad road conditions, and always from December through March.
